Abstract

Euphorbia hirta L. is an important medicinal plant known for its antioxidant properties. This study evaluated the antioxidant activity of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Euphorbia hirta using DPPH and FRAP assays. The ethanolic extract showed higher antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 73.800 µg/mL compared to the aqueous extract (125.932 µg/mL), while ascorbic acid showed the strongest activity (23.2689 µg/mL). The results suggest that the ethanolic extract contains higher amounts of bioactive compounds responsible for free radical scavenging activity. The study highlights the potential of Euphorbia hirta as a natural antioxidant source for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
